High resolution model of domestic electricity demand in rural and urban India (WP2)
This model constructs domestic electricity demand profiles in India from appliance use, by time of day, on weekdays and on weekend days. The model architecture is the same as the popular Richardson-Thomson model of UK domestic electricity demand developed at Loughborough University. The Indian model takes account of rising appliance ownership, and also differences between rural and urban households. Climate and day length affect the use of lighting, heating and cooling technologies. The output of the model is a minute-by-minute time series of randomised electricity demand of one or more households. This output is useful for modelling the operation of electricity networks.
Objectives
The model accounts for:
- Appliance ownership in India, with growth rates
- Energy use / efficiencies of appliances
- Temperature climate, longitude and latitude
